An ongoing exploration of the dual nature of flame-worked glass—fluid and dynamic in the flame, yet solid and enduring as it cools. Deborah de Weerd is the artist and creative force behind Loretti Design Studio, where she creates sculptural, contemporary glass jewelry that celebrates individuality, craftsmanship, and artistic expression.
Her passion for art began at an early age and led her to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht, the Netherlands. After graduating, Deborah built a successful career designing interior textiles and colour collections, developing a refined understanding of form, composition, and colour.
In 2009, she discovered the art of flame-working glass—a medium that immediately captured her imagination. Combining her background in design with an innate creative curiosity, she embraced the challenge of transforming molten glass into wearable art. The fluidity and duality of glass continue to inspire her to push the boundaries of the material, resulting in striking, sculptural pieces that are both contemporary and timeless.
Every Loretti Design creation is individually handcrafted, reflecting Deborah’s meticulous attention to detail and her sophisticated sense of colour. Her work is distinguished by organic forms, vibrant palettes, and a harmonious balance between artistry and craftsmanship. No two pieces are exactly alike, making each creation a unique expression of beauty and creativity.
